Stairlifts

Travel Between Floors Safely and Securely

Climbing up and down the stairs is not only exhausting, but can also be dangerous for someone with poor muscle control or slow reaction time. Prevent slips and falls on the stairs by installing one of our state-of-the-art Maryland stairlifts.

Slipping and falling down the stairs is a real risk for anyone, especially seniors, but it doesn’t mean you have to move your bedroom to the first floor and never go upstairs again.

Equipped with an assortment of safety features, Freedom Mobility’s stairlifts are the perfect, affordable solution for those with mobility issues in Annapolis, Towson, Owings Mills, Glen Burnie, Hanover or anywhere else in Central Maryland.

Find the Perfect Style for Your Staircase

At Freedom Mobility, we know that not every staircase is the same. We offer Maryland stairlifts for rent or purchase in a variety of styles, so you can easily find the mobility solution that best suits your needs and your home’s layout. From curved staircases to stairways with landings, our stairlift options can accommodate many different stair designs.

Although there are numerous styles to choose from, it’s helpful to keep in mind that not all staircases can accommodate a stairlift. A staircase needs to be at least 29” wide to allow an average person to use this mobility equipment comfortably.

How a Stairlift Works

A stairlift is a combination of two elements: a chair and a track that guides the chair. The track attaches to the stairs, not the wall, and can be placed on either side of the staircase. Prior to installation, we need to take measurements of your staircase to order a custom-cut track. Once installed, the stairlift can be activated with a push of a button on your wireless remote control.

Stairlifts are powered by either electricity or batteries, both of which ensure steady operation and smooth ascent or descent. Stairlifts can take you up and down your stairs effortlessly in safety and comfort—like a personal elevator. Our Maryland stairlifts are safe, reliable and easy to use.

They also come packed with many useful features, including:

  • a comfortable chair with a padded seat and back
  • a safety belt for added security
  • the ability to fold when not in use
  • smart sensors that detect track obstruction
  • some models offer backup battery power in case of power outages

Curved Stairlift Operation

If you have more than one flight of stairs, there are curved stairlift solutions that can make a turn, so you don’t have to get up and transfer to a different seat. Below is a video showcasing a curved stairlift installation in Maryland we completed.

Stairlifts as a Temporary Mobility Solution

Don’t want to purchase a full Maryland stairlift system out-right? Maybe you only need a stairlift for a temporary period of time? Here at Freedom Mobility, we also offer stairlift rental services allowing you the ability to rent a quality mobility system for an affordable price.

Rental stairlifts are for straight stairs only and are rented by the month. Curved stairlifts are custom made for each customer and are therefore available only for purchase.

Make an appointment today with one of our Certified Aging-in-Place Specialists and ask them about renting or purchasing a stairlift, and to get an installation time frame. Stairlifts are installed into steps, not walls, keeping the installation home modifications to a minimum.
