Take the time to learn more about what makes Freedom Mobility special. Here at Freedom Mobility, we pride ourselves on our experienced Certified Aging-In-Place Specialists (CAPS). Keep reading to see what a CAPS is, what makes them well-equipped to handle your needs, and what they can assess when they come into your home.

CAPS Certification
To be a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, you must receive certification. The program was created by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), AARP, and over fifty home innovation labs and councils. Its goal is to educate professionals on technical aspects, business management, and customer service in assisting senior citizens who are physically handicapped. A Certified Aging-in-Place specialists help your loved one stay in their home and live comfortably.
What Do They Do When They Come Inside the Home?
You can request the services of a CAPS, and they will come to your home to evaluate its current state. When they come to the home they will evaluate every aspect of the home, from top to bottom, and suggest ways to make them more senior citizen-friendly. Starting from your entryway, your CAPS will strategically go through the home, make notes, and tell you their suggestions.
Once they have made suggestions, they will work with you to make the necessary changes. No matter if it’s something simple like installing grab bars in your bathroom or adding stairlifts to a staircase, they’ll help you make the best decisions. If you opt to remodel your home to better accommodate your senior citizen, a CAPS will recommend an appropriate remodeling company, help you create a remodeling design, and help make changes along the way.
Why Would You Need a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist?
You may think that you don’t need the help of CAPS when designing a home for a senior citizen. But, they have the knowledge and experience needed to make the best decisions. That’s why Freedom Mobility is proud to be a Maryland wheelchair store that has in-house specialists that can help you make the right decisions. Consider consulting with a CAPS before you decide on mobility equipment or remodeling plans.
