The Freedom Mobility

Difference

I can't thank Kelly and her staff enough for how helpful and caring they have been during my mother's recovery. It is obvious that they have the client's best interests in mind. I highly recommend this company!

Our Hanover, Maryland wheelchair showroom serves customers from Columbia, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Owings Mills, Towson, Rockville, Hanover and throughout Central Maryland.

Wheelchair Styles that Suit Your Needs

We understand that choosing the right wheelchair is very important and not always as easy as it seems. That’s why we offer professional assistance every step of the way and provide wheelchairs in a variety of styles that will meet your personal, individual needs.

Our  Central Maryland wheelchair experts will guide you through the different options, help you identify your must-haves and find the perfect wheelchair or scooter within your budget. Our staff includes Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certified consultants who will evaluate and fit (build) a wheelchair to meet the individual needs of the customer.

Which Wheelchair or Scooter is Right for You?

We have many different wheelchairs for sale in Maryland—in fact, so many that it’s easy to get lost in your options. And if this is your first time shopping for a wheelchair, you might have no idea what you are looking for. Below are a few questions you should ask yourself to help you select the right wheelchair for your unique mobility needs.

Is it a temporary or a permanent solution?

It makes a big difference whether you need a wheelchair for a few months or for the rest of your life. If you are buying a wheelchair for long-term use, make sure to choose the one that is durable and comes with a generous warranty. We do offer wheelchairs available to rent for shorter term needs.

How much time will you be spending in a wheelchair?

Generally, the more time you are planning to spend in a wheelchair, the more comfortable and versatile the model you need. Pressure ulcers are a serious concern for anyone spending a significant amount of time in their wheelchair.

Who will be operating the wheelchair?

Most power wheelchairs are designed to be operated by their primary users. Manual wheelchairs have the option of being pushed by the caregiver or the person using the wheelchair. Also consider whether the user will be moving the wheelchair with their, feet, hands or both.

What kind of terrain will you be traveling on?

It’s one thing to use your wheelchair exclusively at home, but it’s not the same if you need a wheelchair to travel between campus buildings. Covering large distances on a hilly terrain can be tiring in a manual wheelchair. Make sure the model you choose is designed to handle your intended use.

Do you need more than one wheelchair?

It’s often challenging to find a single wheelchair that would meet all of your needs, but you don’t have to. Our wheelchairs are affordable and you can probably fit more than one in your budget. Pick a foldable wheelchair for travel, a power wheelchair for your work or school and a manual one to get around the house. Are you looking to purchase a wheelchair in the Baltimore area? Then Freedom Mobility is happy to help. Feel free to call us, request an expert consultation or visit our Hanover, MD showroom for professional guidance.
