FAQs About Hospital Beds & Mattresses

A hi-low bed can be easily raised to a desired level that makes the job easier for the caregiver. Our complete line of hi-low hospital beds is built for the caregiver’s ease of use and safety, and our beds include, but are not limited by, the following features:

  • Safety-stop helps reduce the risk of serious injury, should a hand or other body part become caught between the bed frame and surface.
  • The maximum height makes it easy to care for patients; the low height makes it ideal for Alzheimer’s patients and any other patient at risk of falling.
  • The bed moves from its lowest to highest height within seconds and without any horizontal movement, eliminating wall damage.
  • Battery backup keeps the bed functioning in the event of a power outage.

Bed rails are a great safety feature that prevents patients from falling out of bed. But they can also double as grab bars, helping patients to steady themselves or pull themselves up. At Freedom Mobility, we offer a variety of comprehensive bed rail solutions, including:

  • Full and Half Bed Rails can span the whole length of the bed or just cover the head portion.
  • Bed Assist Bars provide help getting in and out of bed.
  • Bariatric Head and Foot Section Rails protect from rolling out of bed.
  • Extra-Tall Bed Rails for higher mattresses.
  • Standard Assist Rails for standard use.

We also carry the innovative Halo® Safety Ring, which is a bed rail system that reduces the risk of entrapment and prevents mattress movement.

Repeated head of bed elevating and the patient’s concentrated weight combine to expose the seat section of a mattress to the highest level of mechanical fatigue. Our mattresses are tapered for feet to provide pressure reduction and offer protection from “bottoming out.” The high-density sectioned technology offers a combination of resiliency, recovery and comfort to make an excellent solution for many patients. Our non-powered mattresses are made with high-density materials designed for and tested in hospital care conditions. They also come with durable vinyl covers that make caring for such mattresses incredibly easy. The cover creates an anti-bacterial, waterproof and anti-static surface you can wipe clean if spills or other accidents happen.

You or your loved one may benefit from a state-of-the-art, specialized alternating pressure mattress. This is an air mattress equipped with the technology to re-distribute pressure from areas of your body most prone to developing pressure sores. Such mattresses consist of numerous air cells that can be deflated and inflated on a set schedule, which also helps improve airflow and reduces moisture content between the body and the mattress.

Below are some of the common features our alternating pressure mattresses come with:

  • Customization for patient weight and positioning
  • Settings: alternating pressure, low air-loss, static float, auto firm and seat inflation
  • Suitable for any long-term or homecare wound treatment protocol
  • Cell-on-cell design to prevent bottoming out during a power outage
  • Digital pump with choice of four alternating pressure cycle times
  • Upgraded low-friction, anti-shear stretch cover
  • Low-pressure alarm with audio and visual indicators
  • 400-lb. weight capacity
  • Also available with 4″ raised air bolsters to help reduce the risk of falls and entrapment.

Yes, hospital beds generally accommodate various mattress types and brands. However, it's essential to check the bed's specifications for compatibility and ensure the mattress meets the patient's comfort and medical needs.

Customer Reviews

I rented a hospital bed in preparation for knee replacement surgery. The equipment was delivered and set up as promised. The technician, Quan, set up the equipment and explained the operating procedure for all the components on the bed. Quan returned once my pick-up appointment was set up, and the equipment was removed from my home with no issues. AAA+++ experience. Thank You!

Rented a Hospital Bed Dec. 2023

After major back surgery, I needed a hospital bed for my home. Freedom Mobility became an outstanding partner in my recovery. Their customer service was terrific. They worked with my schedule to find the perfect time to deliver the bed. I had the honor of meeting Ty Butler who set up the bed quickly and exactly to my specifications. He patiently took the time to explain how everything worked. Everyone I interacted with at Freedom Mobility was wonderful, and the price was extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Freedom Mobility. I will definitely use them again if the need arises.

Rented a Hospital Bed July 2023

I recently had a fantastic experience. I spoke with Jamie about a hospital bed one our residents needed ASAP. Within 90 minutes, she had Ray and Ty deliver the hospital bed and a bedside commode. They were even kind enough to move the existing bed to another room for us, which saved us a ton of time and effort. Thank you all for a great and quick experience. I will gladly refer more of our clients to you.
